While most of you are probably just concerned with a good trailer for bike touring or getting your groceries home with, there is a growing scene of eclectic and sometimes inspiring ways to make further use of cargo trailers.
Bicycles and music are finding a union through bicycle trailers. In bike festivals and parades a wild variety of sound systems can be found perched on bicycles and mounted on cargo machines.
Rigging up bikes and bike trailers for tunes is an unmistakable assertion that the bicycle is your vehicle of choice above all others. One of the most impressive setups that I’ve come across is this setup christened Beatrix. This bicycle beat box is a full scale sound system that has been mounted on a Carry Freedom Y-Frame Large Trailer.

That is certainly a sweet ride but I like my bike audio systems a bit more organic and home made. No need to pay The Man if you know what I mean.
Check out Carven’s Pimpalicious Bike Trailer with Full Stereo System. He must have legs of steel to crank that 100-plus pound rig around.

That is an impressive rig but it looks like it would be difficult to ride any distance or with any speed. When I was building a stereo trailer I wanted to be able to keep up with the group i was riding with in addition to listening to tunes. I’ve emailed this site with some pics/info and maybe it’ll get posted sometime soon.

Actually it’s not too bad, I’ve done rides upto 40 miles around London in a day and speeds on the flat of upto 15mph. More than fast enough to keep up with any ride I’ve been on. Perfect centre of gravity combined with an excellent platform (trike and traike) means it’s very manageable for a large sound system of such weight.
